The Trap Game

Helllllllo Trojan Fans!

First off, I apologize for my absence from this blog over the past couple weeks. We’re going to dive right back in as the Trojans go Duck hunting this weekend at the Coliseum. A perfect 4:30pm (pacific) kickoff is planned for what promises to be a great homecoming matchup. The Ducks, recently heralded as one of the leaders of the Pac-12 have slipped from their winning ways and enter this game 3-5 looking to make a big statement with a road win. Conversely, USC continues to ride what I like to call “The Darnold Difference”and bring big momentum into this home game at 5-3.

The scary part about what we have on our hands is that a big trip to Seattle awaits USC next week. We cannot get caught looking ahead because even though Oregon has a losing record, they have a high powered offense that guarantees to put points on the board. Touchdowns, not field goals will be the difference in this game and we’ll need to protect the football. Turnovers have been the small chink in Darnold’s otherwise impenetrable armor. With good decisions and smart play calling, USC should have no trouble improving to 6-3 this weekend. Turn the ball over, accumulate penalties and force throws and USC will find themselves squarely in a trap. As much as a win at UW could make the case for Helton to be retained, an ugly loss against the Ducks could reverse the conversation. Here’s to shooting some Ducks Saturday and FIGHT ON!
