USC v. Alabama

GOOOOD MORNING SPORTSFANS,

Yes, today is the day we have been waiting for. Trojan football is back! Nationwide coolers are being iced down, grills are being fired up and rowdy fans are celebrating the return of college football. Inside the USC locker room it’s hard to imagine the mixture of anxiety and excitement and the gameday routine kicks in.

I’ve thought at length recently about the keys to this game for SC and I think it boils down to four main points.

            – Protect The Football: We cannot give Saban and Kiffin any extra time with the ball. This also holds true for penalties. Nobody ever beat Alabama by giving them free yards.

            – Keep It Even Early: If USC is going to have a chance to win this game it will come late in the game. We cannot go down by two touchdowns at the half as Saban is one of the strongest closers in all of football.

            – Limit Our Mistakes, and don’t get beat deep: Defensively USC has a stable of raw talent, highlighted by Adoree Jackson. If they stay true to their assignments and keep the ball in front of them, we will have every chance to table the Alabama offense.

         – Hear These Words: “How do you do?” The radio call that has become synonymous with a USC touchdown. We’ll need to hear that a couple times to stay even with the Tide.

In closing, it will be a spectacular opening game and I look forward to watching two historic programs go head to head.

FIGHT ON
